Dublin to London

So as some of you may of noticed, I haven't updated this in a long time, this is due to a few facts:
1) I got bored of talking about my nails.
2) I MOVED TO LONDON
3) I work my lil ass off every day and barely have the energy to open my laptop.

But NO MORE to this! RUBYFABULOUS is back, but this time from the UK. I'll be creeping for style icons, looking for the best place to find a bargain and updating you on any hints and tips I get my hands on. Make sure to check back for new little bits of info, and don't forget to like RubyFabulous on Facebook too!

Atelier 27 // Om Diva

Last week I was invited to attend a fashion show showcased by Atelier 27 and Om Diva, the shop is located on Drury Steet, and my god did those ladies do us proud! The shop itself looked incredible from the moment you arrived, with flowers supplied by Appassionata and individual designers pieces dotted around the shop, I was already in heaven!

We were greeted with champagne and strawberries!! WAY TO MY HEART <3

The fashion show was held in the loft of the store, Ruth and the girls did an amazing job and getting the place ready, so impressed!

As you can see on the seats WE ALL GOT A GOODIE BAG!! (you know how I love my free stuff)

I went for a wander around the shop while I was waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive. It really was the sweetest store I have been in in such a long time, even the loo had me swooning!

The night had music by Chewy and the special guest was the Lord Mayor of Dublin, I was EXTREMELY jealous of his bling.

We all took our seats and the fashion show began, the music was incredible and the models looked so great! my favourite was the clothing by De Loup, with tie-dye and studding it was right up my street. A really cool touch was that all the models had something neon on them all the time, mainly a neon streak in their hair, which I thought looked really awesome.

Some of the best bits of the goody bag included:

The whole night was a success and I was so proud of all the hard work everyone put in, it really shows when individuals that are passionate about a field of interest come together they can really make something special.

Well done to EVERYONE involved!!

Love for Lush

Today I took a little trip after work to the nasally stimulating shop that is Lush on Grafton Street. I was on the search for a little treat after a heavy weekend of partying and I wanted something sweet and lovely, I was tempted by the giant bars of soap but none of them were sweet enough for me. (this coming from a girl that works all day with cupcakes, how can I not have reached my sugar fill?!). A really wonderfully helpful girl was right to my aid showing me the sweetest shower gels available, this one, called "It's Raining Men" its made of 80% Honey. I couldn't wait to get home and have a good scrub, and my God I cannot recommend this enough! Firstly the fact that Lush products are not tested on animals is a major win for me, this made my shower guilt free, there are no rotten chemicals in the products so I used it all over, including my face. 5 hours later, my skin is still moisturized and smelling of honey. For anyone that's looking for a shower gel with a long lasting girly scent I recommend this ten fold. For just under €10 it's worth it, believe me.

Fingers crossed with this new honey skin of mine it really will start raining men ;)

Beaux Bows

Beaux Bows is a completely gorgeous little shop owned be the even more gorgeous Ailbhe Stafford located in Georges Street Arcade, today celebrates the one year anniversary of her shop, stocking clothing from my faves Lazy Oaf and Salty Philip. I caught up with Ailbhe to have a little chat with her in celebration of Beaux Bows birthday.

Hey Ailbhe! So when did you decide you wanted to own your own shop??

Well I studied History of Art and English in UCD and always wanted to own my own Art gallery, but then the 2009 recession happened and I ended up in retail, I worked in Topshop in the concession Upper 5th, I worked in Om Diva too and that lead onto me wanting to start up my own place, I looked at loads of suppliers that I liked online and thought to myself 'I can do this', and I did, I had the shop opened within 3 months of the initial idea.
I had loads of savings so I used the money from that to start things up, my family were also a massive help to me, my Dad is very business minded and he called the letting agencies for me. It's mad, I'd call up the letting agents and they wouldn't take me seriously, then my Dad would call them and they would be all up for meeting with him and showing him properties. My Mum helps so much too, she comes in and works in the shop sometimes with me and we have so much fun!

My plans now are to expand the shop and open the upstairs part, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm really proud of myself for doing this, it's kind of a way of expressing myself too, like I don't have my own apartment so the decor in the shop is totally me, from everything to the merchandising to the window displays.
Every time I order stock I only order a select amount, like 6-10 of each item, so they are pretty unique to Dublin.

Make sure to go, support young Irish women doing something for themselves, and buy loads of lovely things for yourself!

Beaux Bows is located in 21-22 Georges Street Arcade, Drury Street, Dublin 2.

Happy Birthday Beaux Bows and well done Ailbhe!

Stylish Irish Special!

Once in a while you come across someone in your life that just WOWs you with their style, their confidence and with the cleverness of how en-genius one can be with how they dress. This week we will have a closer look at one of these people, Miss Niamh Cunningham!

I met Niamh 5 years ago and immediately hit it off, we shared similar interests in music and fashion but one thing always made her stand out; her total confidence! She stands out from the crowd wherever she goes with her pitch black hair and lovely red lips. She's a real life russian doll. Her style is one thing that has remained consistant since the day I met her. She states she takes a wide range of influence from Dita Von Teese to one of her best pals Helen Kennedy. I popped by her apartment in Dublin city centre for a chat with her and have a root in her wardrobe:

~ Homemade pecan cupcakes and tea to welcomed me! ~

~ Lace table clothes and tealight candles. ~

~ My little pony and books. ~

 ~ Gloworm!! ~

and of course the soundtrack to my visit:

I got to asking a Niamh a few questions about where and how she got her signature style:

What's your favourite shop in the universe?

Oh jesus, I'd say Garage in Berlin, it's part of the kleidermarkt, it's basically just a massive warehouse with all my dream items. I cold spend days there, its all vintage. Unreal stuff!

Your home is totally gorgeous, where do you get all your inspiration?

I actually have my whole home basically based on my Aunties house, she's dutch, it's all very "random items on shelves that are just decoration pieces" and floral things, it's very clean, Ikea style but also homely. I like when people come in and it's a house and a home not clinical or uncomfortable. I also like shops like Avoca etc. but my recommendation is to go to the pound shop, for example I did the floral arch around the kitchen door using flowers from Moore Street and sellotape!

You live in town so for when you're buying clothing do you always go into the city centre?

No I get loads in Berlin, I get all my coats online because I hate when you see someone walking around with the same coat at winter, I keep seeing this one girl and she has the same Asos coat as me and I want to murder her! I shop quite a bit in 9crows too, I think that shop is awesome. There's a shop back home in Drogheda called Norrybeas which is brilliant, I love there, and obviously I go mental in the sales as all girls do. I die at Urban Outfitters sales.. You can rejig everything, my Mam used to make all her own clothes and my Dad showed me to sow so for stuff like getting a rotten maxi dress in in the sale for a euro, taking it up and hemming it, and making it into a brand new dress, all of that is from my parents.
